Learning The Word

2000 years ago God sent his only begotten son , the living word, to earth, to bring the Gospel of truth;his gospel of repentance and baptism for the remission of sins, for every man woman and child that would believe him and his word.

John 1:1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:14
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Romans 8:3
For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

Jesus was and is the living word and is the same yesterday, and today, and forever(Hebrews 13:8)

NEITHER HE NOR HIS WORD AND GOSPEL HAVE CHANGED OR WILL EVER CHANGE. 

Psalms 119:89

Forever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.

The word brings faith and power to overcome every circumstance and situation that would come our way and..as we hear and believe the word of God our faith grows.

Romans 10:17

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

1 Thessalonians 1:5

For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.

THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST- You MUST be Born Again

Jesus taught the people many things concerning the way to eternal life but he made a couple of things very clear. If we were to understand and know nothing else we should heed these instructions he gave using John 3 verses 3 and 5.

John 3:3:

Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

John 3:5:

Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Jesus made it clear that you could neither enter nor see the Kingdom of God without being Born Again; without being born of water and the spirit.

While ACCEPTING Jesus Christ as your personal savior is a good start..dont stop there. Get baptized and filled with the spirit and see the power of God work in your life as never before.

JESUS WAS OUR EXAMPLE- Born Again

The bible states…

1 Peter 2:21:

For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

What were his FIRST steps?

Matthew 3:13:

Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.

Why?- to fulfill all righteousness

Jesus said….

Matthew 3:15:

And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfill all righteousness. Then he suffered him.

See even Jesus was baptized (immersion) as part of that example. He was showing us what "born of water" in John 3 meant.

Look what happened next.

Matthew 3:16:

And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:

God then showed us in this scripture what would occur after one was BORN of WATER (baptized) We then saw the spirit of God descending like a dove upon him. This a perfect example of being Born of The Spirit. The infilling of the Holy Spirit.

Everyone should be clear on this..Jesus not only preached the Born Again experience but he showed us through his example how it is done.

Peter confirmed this in ACTS 2:38 when the Jews asked him .."Men and brethren what must we do?"

Peter said…

Acts 2:38:

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost

Peter told them to repent of their sins…be baptized(born of water) and to receive the holy spirit (Born of the Spirit)

WHY IS BAPTISM SO IMPORTANT?

Peter said it was for the remission (cancellation) of sins. The bible states that the blood of Jesus Christ washes us FROM our sins or put in another way..separates us from them. But we still must do as Paul was instructed…

Acts 22:16:

And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord. ( Washes them out of existence)

Jesus commanded the disciples to baptize

Matthew 28:19:

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

He said if you love me….keep my commandments

Matthew 28:20:

Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Note: Jesus was Baptized..all the disciples were baptized, Paul was baptized, everyone in the book of Acts who believed,were baptized. Further understanding comes from Romans 6 where we see more concerning the affects, significance and results of accomplishing this act.

BORN OF THE SPIRIT

We saw in Mathew how after Jesus was baptized the holy spirit descended on him as a dove.

Peter said..after baptism you would receive the holy spirit.

Acts 2:1-5 shows how this occurred in the early church

Acts 2:1-5:

And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.  And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.  And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.  And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven

WHY DO WE NEED THE HOLY SPIRIT?

Luke 24:49:

And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

Power!!!

John 14:26:

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

1 Corinthians 2:10:

But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

SUMMARY

The Gospel of Jesus Christ was the power of God unto salvation and the Born Again experience which he taught and accomplished was the key to becoming a new creature in Christ.

2 Corinthians 5:17:

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

This experience removes sin and guilt and endues us with power from on high. The Holy Spirit teaches, leads, and guides us into all truth as Jesus said. The Holy Spirit comes to live within us with power to overcome all things in this life. There is no struggle, no strife, no uncertainty. With this experience comes perfect peace of mind ,body, and soul, and, a personal and intimate relationship with our Lord and savior.

This experience is Just the beginning!!! The beginning of a personal and intimate walk with God. What happens after one is born of water and the spirit is truly a wonderous and adventurous experience.

Paul put it this way…. MOVE FORWARD!

Hebrews 6:1-2:

Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.

And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

The Lord confirms his word..with signs following. HE confirms it.

John 14:15-17:

If ye love me, keep my commandments.  And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever;  Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

Jesus commanded us and said.. you MUST be born again.

IF WE HONOR GODS WORD AND COMMANDMENTS...GOD WILL HONOR US AND OUR PRAYERS.
